WEEK 2: SUPERVISOR SESSION (W/ SHANE)
Studio Project
Feedback on review:
Overall good, nice seeing it come together with 2 models in the room.
Nice was the participating part of the audience, that people could interact. But could be more performance (either from the models or from lily).
(I intentionally didn't have a runway or any performance of the models but told them to be themselves or whoever they wanted to be. I did briefly think of having the models make the presentation instead of me but that felt like cheating in this review context. But presenting myself does contradict my concept of lily.)
“Dilemma” of lily:
For Professional Creative Practice I have to write a bio and cv … how much do I have to reveal?
Shane:
Make it up. Does it say it has to be your bio?
People seem to receive things like that well nowadays. Looks at Banksy. One theory is that it's a collective and people are fine with that. That's how lily could work as well. (Have different people act as lily … confuse the audience.)
Maître de Casson is not Banksy.
But ground it in real achievement/accomplishments (can't apply for grants etc with a false cv).
Start creating but be authentic (relate to things I've done as lily).
Example: When was lily born? – lily is about 15 years old …
Research alter egos / personas in arts and culture (Ziggy Stardust, Stephen King). How does one express a profile through a pseudonym?
Another example: Finnish portrait artist Maija Tammi that submitted in a portrait competition that asked for living subjects. What is living? Artist submitted 4 portraits, 3 were CGI (“One of them is a Human”)
> This whole topic also fits my current project.
Overall observation: I seem to sit well on the edge of the field and if I'm not there I try to find a way to get there (questioning where is the limit).
… yep, story of my life.
