Statement
ISO-SPECTIVE is a series of photographs examining the concept of isolation.
Contrasting interiority with exteriority, this work emerges from the overarching theme of loneliness. Indulging in past memories and becoming absorbed in outward-facing self-representation in times when communication happens predominantly via technology, a question emerges as to whether this leads to a disconnection from one’s present lived reality.
The series draws influences from the work of writers Ollivier Dynes, Gaston Bachelard and Erving Goffman, as well as artist Sophie Calle, particularly her Les Dormeurs.
