WEEK 6: SUPERVISOR SESSION (W/ DAVID)
Studio Project
New moodboard for shoot w/ Matt
Good idea to work with a mirror in a tight apartment.
Relation of clothes to the location: Clothes are like a shield or armor. Matt in the apartment is more moody, vulnerable. Hiding from the outside world. (Original intention was to show the positive side and admiration I have for each of the subjects. Through lockdown that might change slightly, but could be better.)
Functional student apartment: in-between place, passing through, uncertainty.
Clothes are not that important, just a tool. These aren't product shots.
I'm interested in not showing the face. Showing the back of the head: Trust of the model towards the photographer.
Matt was very involved in the process of making the clothes. Which is great as now he likes them, feels they are comfortable and now they are more “finished” than the way I had originally planned them.
The whole series is intentionally not combined as an obvious series. All three subjects are individual and that's what I like about them. But there are a lot of possibilities how to achieve consistency, for example, the use of the same paper.
Michelle's shoot is the glossy high-end shoot.
Matt's shoot will probably be grainy (high ISO), low light, possibly blurry images. In the moment.
